Technician-Power Plant (Cement Industry)

Description

To assist operator and shift engineer/supervisor in achieving power generation target as may be demanded.

Key Duties and Responsibilities.

• Assist to achieve power production target.

• Involve in achieve safety and health target.

• Execution of special assignments.

• Involve in housekeeping and discipline.

  • Assist to ensure safety precautions are observed and personal protection equipment’s are worn during repairs or scheduled maintenance.
  • Take inventory of working tools weekly to ensure that it matches the original tool list provided.
  • Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
  • Replace minor fixtures in the plant machines.
  • Participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programs.

Requirements

Well knowledge of operational activities and maintenance activities of higher capacity DG. Sets

• SSCE/GCE/ND

• TRADE TEST I-III General Fitting

• 8years of experience

Description

  • To look after the shift operations of assigned area of Power plant efficiently,
  • Monitoring & control of Parameters for all the equipments in the assigned area.
  • Recording of all the operating parameters and maintaining records of respective area.
  • Proper Handling of emergencies in respective assigned area.
  • Independently handling the power plant control room operation.
  • Independently handling the operation and control of DCS.
  • All maintenance sections of Power Plant( Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation)
  • Shift in charge of Power plant
  • Casual staff of Power plant for house keeping
  • Stores for receiving material and AGO.
  • Admin. dept.
  • Production department to get status of running equipment and gas consumption
  • Nigerian Gas Company shift operating staff of Gas metering station for gas supply.

Requirements

Bsc/HND in Mechanical Engineering ,Minimum 5 years Post NYSC experience

Candidate should have work experience of gas Turbine based Power Plant with good knowledge of operations, trouble shooting and safety aspects. He should be able to understand the standard operating procedures for various critical operational activities like start up/shut down and handling of emergencies.

Job Summary

  • The Quality Assurance Officer performs analyses following specified instructions from supervisor, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and analytical procedures.
  • Reports testing results through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), other computerized systems, or through standard laboratory paper-based documentation.
  • Calculates results and compares with specification limits.
  • Informs supervision immediately if lab results do not meet specifications.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs analyses including instrumental and automated methods utilizing prescribed procedures and techniques.
  • Complete all testing including special project/ protocol testing in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Generates valid data, reports results in appropriate database compared to established specifications while adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Compares laboratory results with specifications for acceptability.
  • Maintains equipment and trouble shoots instrumentation problems, procedural problems or production/process problems.
  • Participates in functions involving teams which impact production, increase efficiency, solve problems, generate cost savings and improve quality.
  • Ensures safety, housekeeping, and compliance are maintained. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry or related field with 6 years’ job related experience required.
  • Must be detail oriented, conscientious and have high reading comprehension skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computerized systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of chemical analysis procedures as required within the work area.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
  • Comprehend mathematical concepts such as logarithms, algebraic, conversions, fractions, decimals, and rounding.
  • Ability to understand and follow written procedures.
  • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal direction.
  • Utilize good judgment in making decisions within limitations of recognized standard methods and procedures.
  • Must maintain GMP compliance within the assigned laboratory.
  • Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Complete all training and written exams.
  • Must be able to temporarily work a flexible schedule to meet business needs.
  • Knowledge of ISO systems will be an advantage.

  • Monitoring of power consumption and reporting daily.
  • Maintenance of switchboard panel, 6.6kv bus panel, NGR panels.
  • Illumination work

  • Motor repairs and overhauling.
  • Trouble shooting skills.
